About Our Club

The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek began as a result of Ted Gregory and Rob Love making a lunch visit to the Rotary Club of Frederick, the largest Rotary Club in Frederick, Maryland, in March 1993.  After the meeting, Ted mentioned to Ann Burnside-Love (a member of that club) that he would prefer a breakfast meeting, and the idea for the third club in Frederick was born (Fredericktowne was the second club and meets in the evenings).  Ann referred Ted to Rob Ketron, then District #7620 Governor.  Afterwards, a steering committee was formed and, after considerable planning and organizing, the club was chartered on August 6, 1993 with 47 members.

Since then, RCCC has grown to over 150 members representing a broad spectrum of professionals, active citizens and service minded individuals from the community.  Despite the early meeting start time, the room buzzes with energy and vitality.

Over the years, the club has forged lasting relationships with several organizations within the Frederick area.  Through the devotion of our members’ time, expertise and financial support, the following programs are a sampling of those “adopted” by the club –

The activities and programs operated by the club are too numerous to list here.  You can find out more about what we do by visiting RCCC in Action.

Of course, there is a cost to providing these services and that leads us to fundraising.  RCCC’s largest annual endeavor is that of Oktoberfest. Frederick’s Oktoberfest was started in 2002 by Community Living, a local not-for-profit, and grew beyond what their organization could manage alone.  With the support of the Fredericktowne Rotary Club, RCCC adopted this event as its own and has made it its one and only fundraiser.  Through the sacrificial efforts of our members, and those of the Fredericktowne Rotary, the club is able to provide contributions in excess of $50,000 to our community and those abroad each year.
