Bring a Broom Saturday

Posted in: Community Service

On Saturday 4.28.12, about 100 volunteers descended on Downtown Frederick for the first annual Bring a Broom Saturday.

The event was jointly organized by NAC 11, Downtown Frederick Partnership, and Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, with the participation of The Garden Club of Frederick.
Volunteers brought their brooms, swept sidewalks, cleaned garbage cans, planted flowers, and mulched tree wells for a few hours.
Nearly half of the work force came from within the extended RCCC family (members, family, friends, Temple-Paul Mitchell School, Fort Detrick).

Bravo and many thanks to that dedicated RCCC team!!!

Mayor Randy McClement and his wife, along with Aldermen Carol Krimm, Michael O'Connor, Kelly Russell, and Karen Young, and Senator Ron Young were also part of the cleaning squad.
After the event, Brewer's Alley hosted a pizza party where some of the volunteers gathered, enjoyed a beer, and joined for a group picture.
