Hands-on Project: Frederick Market Street Mile

Posted in: Hands-on Projects

On Saturday September 13th,  under somewhat cloudy skies, several members of the RCCC got up, got out and helped with the 31st running of the Market Street Mile. This event kicks off the In the Streets celebration in downtown Frederick and benefits the Lincoln Panther Running Club.

Many thanks to the crew of Jim Olson, Tiffany Ahalt, Alice Ford, Suzie Smith, Lori Peters and her daughter Izzy, Norm Birzer, our esteemed emcee Mr. Steve Heine and wife Carole, Greg and Anne Light, and our wayward snowbirds Catherine Fairley and Dick Foot for their help, support and enthusiasm at 7:15.

In addition we had several souls run with the 20 or so Panthers that  braved the elements and the early hour. Thanks to  Coaches Bonnie Swanson, Doug Murphy, Matt McGreevy, and Sean McAdam of the RCCC and Aaron Vetter, Jessica Murphy, and DeeDee Pew of Lincoln Elementary.

Finally, we need to recognize Neil Fay who entered, ran, and completed the event in the mens division of the mile.MarketStreetMileCollage.jpg
