RISE 2014 is moving along nicely, and we have exciting news to share!
1) Mentoring
We launched the Mentoring Program at the end of February when our 7 participants graduated from the Job Preparation Workshop and were paired with Rotarian mentors.
Many thanks to our mentors for their dedication to RISE: Rotarians Chris Chase, Jill Cody, Chris Colville, Janice DeIuliis, Brenda Main, Helen Maleady, Rick Rogers
Since early this month, all participants are now active in work internships with various employers in Frederick (Asian American Center, Catoctin View / Manor of the Housing Authority, Community Living, Millennium Engineering, United Way, YMCA), and we thank those employers for opening their doors to our participants!
Our participants have also attended two monthly skill-building sessions designed to motivate and help them integrate the work place.
2) Networking
We have structured a Networking Committee to help us open door for our participants, identify work internships, and eventually gainful employment.
We affectionately call the members of the committee "The Dirty Dozen", and we are grateful for them joining RISE and assisting us with this crucial function.
Many thanks to Rotarians Ryan Daiger, Neil Filler, Alice Ford, Mary Ford-Naill, Darrell Guyton, Marty Lapera, Chris Limparis, Mike McGowan, Matt McGreevy, Terry O'Malley, Rob Tuggle, Jan West for joining our Networking Committee!
3) Development

Over the next months, we will present RISE to Rotary clubs in Frederick and host "friendraising" events for local business professionals, Foundations, and Not-for Profits.
We will also partner with the Lucas Village people in mid-August to celebrate their village and commemorate Rotary's 10th anniversary of the inauguration of the PAL Building.
Several substantial grants have been submitted to potential donors, and we are working on an engaging and informative brochure for RISE.
Thanks to all for your precious support to RISE!
