On Wednesday, February 25, 2015, Rotarian and State Farm Agent Kathy Schultze presented a $10,000 State Farm Good Neighbor Citizenship grant to the The RISE Fund.

Rotarian Initiative for Successful Employment (RISE) was born of the desire to significantly impact the lives of public housing residents living in Lucas Village.
RISE was launched by the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek in May 2013, and it has since assisted 23 residents by providing vital services such as professional training, job preparation workshops, work internships paid by the RISE partners, childcare and transportation assistance, mentoring, networking, and by sourcing the financial requirements of those programs.
“Programs like RISE give Lucas Village residents a chance to gain the skills and hands-on experience that will help them enter the workforce and transform their lives,” said State Farm Agent Kathy Schultze.
RISE partners include Frederick County Workforce Services, Project Alive with the Housing Authority of the City of Frederick, Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, the YMCA of Frederick County, Frederick Community College, Second Chances Garage, and several Frederick County employers
"We are extremely excited to receive this generous grant from State Farm, and these funds will help us maintain and grow RISE, which has already provided a variety of employment services to residents of the Lucas Village community during the last two years", said Rotarian Lisa Ausherman, Chair of RISE Development Committee.
Since its inception, RISE has raised over $80,000 in cash donations and service contributions from organizations such as the Ausherman Family Foundation, Frederick County Workforce Services, Matan Companies, Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, Walmart, Women's Giving Circle, as well as various individual donors.
