Youth Leadership Program

The Rotary Club of Carroll Creek kicked off its fall Youth Leadership Program in the month of October with 30 participants from various High Schools throughout Frederick County participating.

The first week’s session was held at the YMCA of Frederick County with Andy Nichols and Team Link. Various team building activities were implemented, so that the participants had a chance to get to know one another. This was a great way to start the program as the teens really seem to enjoy bonding with new friends.

The second week’s session was held at the Frederick County Law Enforcement Center. Various officers spoke about their career paths in the agency and what it takes to keep Frederick County Safe. Leadership participants were active in asking good questions and getting a tour of the amazing facility.

The United Way Poverty Simulation kept students on the move during week three.  Volunteers and students participated in activities designed to heighten awareness of a life of poverty and the many helpful resources available in our community.  The discussion was robust and most students commented on the difficulty of maintaining a family when finances are tough.  A great life lesson for all!
