Oktoberfest

What It Is

Frederick's Oktoberfest is the largest event in the area that celebrates German heritage by attempting to replicate the traditional Volksfest (folk festival) held in Germany each year.  The festivities include authentic German cuisine and music, as well as souvenirs.  We depend on the local community to bring the fun and revelry.

How We Got Involved

The first several years of Frederick's Oktoberfest was operated by Community Living, a local not-for-profit agency.  They did a wonderful job of growing the festival year over year to the point where they could no longer manage it alone.  In 2008, Community Living approached RCCC with the proposal to take over the organization and operation of the event.  As it turned out, RCCC was also looking to establish a signature fundraising event for the club.  Therefore, in collaboration with Community Living and with the additional resources of the remaining Frederick Rotary clubs, RCCC took over the management of Frederick's Oktoberfest.

What It Means to RCCC

This event is now the sole fundraising effort of RCCC.  And that is a good thing because, with the amount of hours it takes to plan and run an event of this size, we have no time for anything else.  The entire profit goes to support Rotary's efforts in our community and throughout the world.
