Local Community Projects
Rotary is about taking action, and that’s exactly what the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek does. We bring together people who care about Frederick County and turn ideas into meaningful service. By building partnerships, investing our time and resources, and rolling up our sleeves alongside other community organizations, we work to address local needs and create lasting change.
Whether we’re supporting students, improving public spaces, responding to community challenges, or lending a hand where it’s needed most, our members believe that service is most powerful when we work together. Explore a few of the projects that showcase Rotary members in action.

RECENT PROJECTS
FLAG RAISING
On Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans’ Day, RCCC raises over 100 flags in downtown Frederick to recognize, remember, and honor those who have served and are serving our country. This project, which is known for our awesome Flaggin’ Wagon transporting the flags around town, engages Rotarians and family members for set up and take down. We are honored to be a part of our community’s recognition of local heros.
SANTA DAY WITH LUCAS VILLAGE
Each December, RCCC partners with Lucas Village to offer a ‘reverse’ Santa opportunity for the youth living in this community. After receiving donations, RCCC provides gifts that the youth can select for their parents and caretakers. We help them wrap their selected gifts, visit with Santa, enjoy hot cocoa and games, and more. We love seeing the joy on the youth’s faces as they are thrilled to give and appreciate those they love. We are proud partner of the PAL Center located off of Rotary Alley in Lucas Village.
HONOR OUR OFFICERS
RCCC is home to the Officer of the Month Awards in collaboration with the Frederick Police Department. Each quarter, we come together to recognize the last several months of awards, acknowledge their efforts, and to celebrate their commitment to the safety of our community. Each Spring, we also recognize the Stewart Alcorn Officer of the Year Award. Most recently, Officer Jonathan “Muzzy” Moczydlowsky was named Police Officer of the Year.
COLOR ON THE CREEK
Brightening Carroll Creek takes a community, and we’re proud to be part of the team. Every year, Rotary Club of Carroll Creek members volunteer alongside Color on the Creek to prepare thousands of flowers in the greenhouse, plant blooms throughout the creek and surrounding landscape, and help with seasonal cleanup. It’s a hands-on project that not only beautifies downtown Frederick but also showcases what can happen when neighbors come together to care for the places we all share.
STUFF THE BUS
For more than a decade, the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek has proudly supported Stuff the Bus, helping local students start the school year with the supplies they need to succeed. Each year, our members volunteer their time to collect, sort, organize, and distribute thousands of donated school supplies alongside community partners. By supporting this countywide effort, we’re helping ensure that every child has the tools to learn, grow, and thrive from the very first day of school.
PLANTING TREES
Growing a healthier community starts with caring for our environment. Each spring and fall, the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek partners with StreamLink and other community volunteers to plant native trees throughout Frederick County. Led by our club’s Environmental Committee, these projects help improve water quality, expand our community’s tree canopy, reduce stormwater runoff, and create healthier habitats for generations to come. By investing our time today, we’re helping build a greener, more resilient community for tomorrow.
“Rotarians are very much more favorably disposed toward action than they are toward words.”
